Artist Statement/Bio/CV
Megan Raab Greenholt is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring painting, printmaking, textiles, collage, and sculpture. Vintage, found, and natural objects live in my studio and home. These collections guide my creative expression, and always find a way into my work. Home as place, is represented in the content, materials, and methods I use in traditional and non-traditional forms. Since 2010, I have been producing eco-dyed materials primarily using dyestuffs sourced from my dye garden or locally and sustainably foraged. As a practicing artist and educator, discovery is integral to my practice as I use a process-oriented approach to facilitate an intuitive response to the materials as a means to encourage community engagement and curiosity. My creative and professional interests have been a journey of exploration and have built upon learned experiences in the fields of psychology, education, and fine art. Within these disciplines exist commonalities that unify my work: therapeutic expression, transformation, and innovation. All encourage further study and influence my methodology. Complementing this is an overarching interest in the natural world that has continued to develop and guide me toward holistic self-expression.
Maintaining an active studio practice in Chester County, PA., Megan has exhibited throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Her work is found in private collections and permanent installations at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, East Norriton, PA and Mission First Housing Commission, Philadelphia, PA. Megan’s work was also featured on the cover of Philadelphia Stories Magazine, Spring 2013. Since 2007, she has been a member of Artessa Alliance, a women’s artist cooperative, which has given her a multitude of opportunities to exhibit her work in the greater Philadelphia area.
